Tune in live WABC TV or online to see Stony Brook University in 68th Annual Columbus Day Parade
STONY BROOK, NY, October 05, 2012 – For the second consecutive year, The Spirit of Stony Brook Marching Band will participate in New York City’s Annual Columbus Day Parade. The Parade will take place on Monday, October 8, 2012, and will be broadcast live from Fifth Avenue in Manhattan on WABC from noon to 3 pm eastern standard time.
Coaches and players from the Stony Brook baseball team will join the band in the parade to celebrate their “Shock the World” run to the 2012 College World Series on a special float generously provided by the Columbus Citizens Foundation.
The Stony Brook contingent will be led by this year’s homecoming king and queen, Karthik Rao (biology ’13), a marching band drum major; and Dani Klupenger (journalism/business ’13), a member of the women’s basketball team. Also participating in the parade is distinguished alumni Richard T. Nasti (’78), a Stony Brook Foundation board member and senior vice president of H.J. Kalikow & Company.
The best mascot in all of college sports, Wolfie, is a crowd favorite who will be outfitted with a GoPro Camera, allowing ABC to cut live into the broadcast to glimpse first ‘person’ views of marchers and parade onlookers.
